We Will Never Forget...

Tomorrow the American Red Cross joins millions of people across the country and around the world in honoring the lives of those lost 9 years ago when the unthinkable happened - an act of terrorism resulted in the tragedy, devastation and loss we now remember as 9/11. The Jersey Coast Chapter will have our flags hung at half mass tomorrow as we reflect on the 385 individuals we lost who lived locally and the thousands of others from our tri--state area.

Being here that day and witnessing the towers come down on TV amongst my Red Cross colleagues, I remember the frightening emotions we all felt, yet, how quickly we put it aside and went to work as a united team. We worked for months around the clock, many of us not leaving for days while we met with families who were looking for loved ones and later realized that they had perished; people who wanted to donate and the thousands that came through the doors that needed to help in some way.
I am as proud today as I was then to be a part of such an incredible organization as the American Red Cross. The volunteers, staff and Board Members are truly a reflection of the humanitarian spirit that exists here today.

You can help people affected by disasters like this here, and around the world, by making a donation to support American Red Cross Disaster Relief. Your gift enables the Red Cross to prepare for and provide shelter, food emotional support and other assistance in response to disasters. Visit the Jersey Coast Chapter website.
