$24,000 AWARDED TO CHARITIES IN OCEAN AND MONMOUTH COUNTY SERVING MILITARY FAMILIES AND VETERANS BY OCEANFIRST FOUNDATION

Funding will help meet the emergency needs of local service men, women and veterans.

Toms River, NJ – OceanFirst Foundation of Toms River has awarded $24,000 in grants to local charities that serve members of the military through its Home Runs for Heroes Program. OceanFirst Foundation and the Lakewood BlueClaws, a minor league team of the Philadelphia Phillies organization, teamed up in 2009 to honor and provide support to the brave men and women who protect our country. Home Runs for Heroes Grants provide financial support to military-based charities that meet the emergency needs of local service men and women – active and retired - and their families. The program tied each position on the field (not including pitcher, but including designated hitter) with one of nine local military-based charities. Each home run by the BlueClaws at home this year brought a $1,000 donation to the corresponding charity.

"We thank the BlueClaws organization for giving us the opportunity to work together in support of our troops and veterans," said Katherine Durante, Executive Director of OceanFirst Foundation. "We hope that the grants through the Home Runs for Heroes Program will bring much needed relief to local military families going through difficult times."

With baseball season at an end, OceanFirst Foundation is proud to announce $24,000 in grants to the following organizations: Army
