NJ FLOODS

A dry blanket, a hot meal, a shoulder to cry on. A mop, a shovel, a bottle of water. The Red Cross is responding to the needs left behind when the waters receded in New Jersey. With compassion and conviction, more than 500 volunteers have been reaching out to the 10,000 families affected by the flooding from Passaic County to Cape May. Chapters across the state opened 6 shelters in response to the floods.

A SUCCESSFUL WEEKEND OF SERVICE

Mobile feeding and bulk distribution was the big priority Saturday and Sunday throughout the flooded areas. The beautiful sunny weather invigorated damp spirits and motivated
clean-up.

JERSEY COAST'S REGIONAL ROLE

The Jersey Coast Chapter has been involved in this relief effort, helping other chapters across the state. We have deployed upwards of 20 staff and volunteers from our region and supplied 1,100 clean-up kits, 160 comfort kits and 40 food cambros for the Raritan shelters. We are currently sending more clean-up kits to the bulk distribution site in Bound Brook.

Our goal is to keep our community involved in the disaster relief efforts.
