Red Cross Meets Emergency Needs of Ocean Grove Fire Victims

Disaster Responders to Assist Those in Need

TINTON FALLS, NJ, March 11, 2011 – The Jersey Coast Chapter of the American Red Cross is meeting the emergency needs of individuals and families affected by the fire which destroyed several homes in Ocean Grove early this morning. Trained Red Cross disaster responders are on the scene, ensuring that each of the families immediate needs are being met.

A team of eight disaster responders from the chapter are supporting the affected families in all aspects of disaster relief. “Our trained disaster responders and volunteers are on the scene providing emergency assistance to those in need, based on each family’s need,” said Melissa DeGennaro, spokeswoman for the Jersey Coast Chapter. The Jersey Coast disaster response team is currently working with at least 28 individuals to assess their needs and will be supporting several families with disaster relief including assistance for shelter, food, clothing and other essentials.

Generous donations of time and money enable the Red Cross to respond immediately to many disasters throughout Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Red Cross disaster assistance is free, thanks to the generosity of the American public. “Donations allow us to continue our work in helping our neighbors during their emergencies throughout Monmouth and Ocean Counties,” said DeGennaro.
