TINTON FALLS, February 3, 2010 – What is a hero? The American Red Cross Jersey Coast Chapter is doing something new this year to extend appreciation to its volunteers and members of the community who have accomplished something extraordinary. A brand new event, “Hometown Heroes,” will host a kick-off on February 24, 2010 at McLoone’s Rum Runner in Sea Bright, NJ at 6:00 p.m.
This event will honor four Red Cross Volunteer Heroes and ten Community Heroes, nominated by the Jersey Coast Chapter and residents of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Among these award recipients will be the McLoone family of Little Silver, who will be honored for their generous contribution of time and service to the community.
“Hometown Hero” awards will be presented at a luncheon on March 26, 2010 at Branches Catering in West Long Branch, NJ. Event and Promotions Manager for the Red Cross Leanne Caffrey says, “I am excited to be involved in the planning of our Inaugural Hometown Heroes campaign celebration. This event provides us with a wonderful opportunity to honor our volunteers, our own hometown heroes, along with outstanding members of our community.”
